Integrative Pelvic Bodywork
For Women's HealthĀ
I offer respectful and effective internal and external bodywork of the abdomen and pelvis. This can address a variety of issues, including:
- Painful or irregular menstruation
- Improving fertility
- Pelvic pain or pain with sex
- Pre-birth preparation for an easier birth
- Difficult recovery after birth
- General postpartum wellness
We start with an intake and assessment of your health history and a review of the anatomy to support understanding of the work. Pelvic bodywork can be internal or external, and I follow your lead on what feels right for a session.
My training background is with the Arvigo Techniques for Mayan Abdominal Massage and the Entering The TempleĀ course with Leslie Stager, RN, LMT.
Bodywork For Breech
Spinning BabiesĀ® Aware Support
Spinning BabiesĀ® is an approach looking at the space available for babies in pregnancy and birth. Through body balancing work and daily activities, we support more space in the womb and opportunity for a spontaneous change to a more optimal fetal position.
Who is this work for? Anyone with...
- Discomfort in pregnancy
- Breech or transverse baby after 30 weeks
- Before an ECV (External Cephalic Version)
- Ā A previous difficult birth
- Desire for more ease, connection, and release
Ā Sessions include:
- An intake and assessment
- Anatomy and physiology review to support technique understanding
- Hands on work, as needed
- Availability for follow up questions
- Counseling for options
Sessions start with a 30-minute meeting via Zoom to discuss your intake form and answer any questions or concerns you have. I typically give some suggestions of things you can do on your own before we meet in person for a hands on session. If you are not local to the Seattle/Whidbey area, I can continue support via Zoom.
Pre-Conception & Fertility Support
Individualized and holistic support.
This is an aspect of midwifery support near and dear to my heart! I am honored to be there for you in this process.
We can focus on instruction in charting cycles, navigating nutrition/supplements/herbs, or understanding conception sex/sperm transfer. Or, you mayĀ feel called to receive care via fertility massage or ritual.
For someĀ the need is information or hands on support, for others it'sĀ more about being witnessed and supported in where they're at--physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually...it's all welcome.
Midwifery Care
Pregnancy, Birth, & Beyond...
If you are looking for a midwife on or near Whidbey Island, I offer care for pre-conception, pregnancy, birth, and beyond. If you are outside of Whidbey Island, but looking for support via phone/online, I'm happy to chat with you about what you are looking for.
Philosophy of Care
Traditional midwifery care is rooted in community and trust in physiology. Midwives are well versed in the process of supporting physiological birth, handling variations of normal, and recognizing when consultation or transferring care if more help is needed. At the center of midwifery care is an acknowledgment of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum as a rite of passage for both parents.Ā
Midwifery care is rooted in trust, transparency, and relationship. A midwife's primary tools are her heart and her hands. In the modern world we have access to lab work and testing, too. These things can complement and support, but not supplant, our original tools. Midwives steep themselves in understanding the physiological design. The better we understand the physiology of birth, the more we know when to step back and when to step in. This is the art of midwifery. Midwifery is a practical art: instead of talking about nutrition or exercise, let's share a meal or go for a walk.Ā
Midwifery care is rooted in a respect for bodily autonomy and individualized care. As a midwife.I am responsibleĀ toĀ Ā you, but notĀ for you. You are responsible for your own choices and how those choices may impact your own health and the health of your baby. The primary prenatal care comes from YOU! Midwives walk alongside families offering information, support, and practical skills. Midwives are humble about where their skills set ends and what cannot be done at home safely.Ā
